Dufferin Coaching Inn: Shrigley Mills

Along with Massive PR and Dufferin Coaching Inn, we looked at Shrigley Mills, the arrival before the war of the Utitz family and the changes brought by WW2.

Our friends at Massive Public Relations asked us to work with Dufferin Coaching Inn to highlight their local history. This beautiful example of rural Irish accommodation stands in the town of Killyleagh, Co. Down. Not too far away is the village of Shrigley. That is where our story begins.

Life in the village of Shrigley changed dramatically in wartime. The 1930s had been tough in the village; the global depression lead to a decrease of work in the mills. Towards the end of the decade, however, the Utitz family arrived in the village and became heroes to many of the impoverished residents of the village.
