The Fermanagh Spitfire

The Fermanagh Spitfire P7838, funded by people of the rural Ulster county, served with the Royal Air Force throughout World War Two until 5th June 1945.

The Fermanagh Spitfire had the serial number P7838. The Mark IIa Supermarine Spitfire flew with RAF 611 Squadron, RAF 602 Squadron, RAF 122 Squadron, RAF 177 Squadron, and the Allied Expeditionary Air Force. On 5th June 1945, the Royal Air Force struck The Fermanagh Spitfire off charge.

The plane was one of many fighters funded by people of Northern Ireland who contributed to the Belfast Telegraph Spitfire Fund.
