The Harlandic Spitfire

The Harlandic Spitfire P7685 was the only Belfast Telegraph Spitfire Fund planes not named after a town or county. Harland Wolff raised almost £5,000.

The Harlandic Spitfire had the serial number P7685. The Mark IIa Supermarine Spitfire flew with RAF 610 Squadron. On 23rd March 1941, it flew into high ground 2 miles north east of West Dean, Sussex in bad weather.

The plane was one of many fighters funded by people of Northern Ireland who contributed to the Belfast Telegraph Spitfire Fund.
