The Mountains of Mourne Spitfire P7840, funded by people of Northern Ireland, served throughout the Second World War, being struck off on 5th June 1945.

The Mountains of Mourne Spitfire had the serial number P7840 GW-E. The Mark IIa Supermarine Spitfire flew with RAF 64 Squadron, RAF 340 Squadron, RAF 53 Operational Training Unit, and the Central Gunnery School. On 5th June 1945, the Royal Air Force struck The Mountains of Mourne Spitfire off charge.

The plane was one of many fighters funded by people of Northern Ireland who contributed to the Belfast Telegraph Spitfire Fund.
