Marilyn Taylor's 'Faraway Home' is a historical fiction novel set during the Second World War. Based on true events, the moving tale takes place in Vienna, Dublin, and Northern Ireland. The story begins when Karl and his sister Rosa escape Nazi persecution in occupied Vienna and make their way to Ulster.
Karl and Rosa arrive at a remote farm in Millisle, Co. Down with other Jewish Kindertransport refugees. The children struggle at first to settle into their new life but they soon make friends. Local children and Jewish refugees come through wartime in Northern Ireland together.
