The Belfast Jewish Community was relatively small before the outbreak of World War Two. Nonetheless, they provided invaluable help to refugees from Europe.
In the late 1930s, many Jews attempted to escape Europe. Belfast Jewish Community established a Jewish Hostel at Cliftonpark Avenue, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
Around 10,000 European Jewish children arrived in the United Kingdom just before the outbreak of World War Two on what became known as the Kindertransport.
Young survivors of Concentration Camps arrive in Northern Ireland
In 1946, planes of young survivors of Nazi camps touched down in Northern Ireland. Over 100 young Jewish orphans travelled on to safe havens across Ulster.
