Short Sunderland W6028 crashed in Co. Fermanagh on 20th February 1944. The same day say seamen from Northern Ireland die in the sinking of HMS Warwick.

On 21st February 1942, 151st Field Artillery Battalion, 34th Infantry Division fired the first American shells in Europe during World War Two in Ulster.
