Leading Aircraftman Alexander O'Hara Flaherty (998492) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War Two. He was the son of Walter C Flaherty and Agnes Flaherty of 65 Ainsworth Drive, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
Before the outbreak of the Second World War, Alexander had been a member of the Ligoniel Amateur Flute Band. He had 3 years’ service at his time of death. He died of wounds on 28th November 1944 aged 23 years old. Commonwealth War Graves Commission states he served in RAF 2080 Squadron.
Alexander O’Hara Flaherty’s grave is in Section I, Row B, Grave 3 of Schoonselhof Cemetery, Antwerp, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:
