He was born near Magherafelt, Co. Londonderry but the family of Allen Millar Cameron Bayne later moved to Tinwald, Canterbury, New Zealand. He served in the Royal Navy.

Petty Officer Airman Allen Millar Cameron Bayne (FX 76845) served in the Royal Navy during World War Two. He was the son of William James Bayne and Selina Bayne of Tinwald, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Before emigrating, the Bayne family lived in Moneymore, Co. Londonderry. Allen was born in Magherafelt, Co. Londonderry on 16th September 1919.

Allen died on 17th February 1943 aged 23 years old. At the time, his base was HMS Condor, Arbroath, Scotland. He was an observer on board a Fairey Albacore plane with No. 754 Squadron of the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. The plane came down on the Hill of Formal, West of Edzell, Strathmore, Scotland.

Allen Millar Cameron Bayne’s grave is in Section A, Grave 1116 of Cookstown New Cemetery, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. His name is on the Cookstown War Memorial, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. Bayne’s headstone bears the inscription:
