Sailor David John Pritchard of Ballyhalbert, Co. Down died on 5th November 1940 when SS Kenbane Head came under attack south of Cape Farewell, Greenland.

Sailor David John Pritchard of Ballyhalbert, Co. Down served in the Merchant Navy on board SS Kenbane Head when it came under attack in waters off the coast of Greenland.

Sailor David John Pritchard served in the Merchant Navy during World War Two. He was the son of the late David Pritchard and Eliza Jane Pritchard (née McMaster) of Ballyhalbert, Co. Down.

He died on 5th November 1940 aged 21 years old. He was onboard SS Kenbane Head went it came under attack from the Kriegsmarine surface raider Admiral Scheer. A total of 24 men died when the Belfast built vessel went down off the coast of Greenland.

David John Pritchard has no known grave. His name is on Panel 60 of the Tower Hill Memorial, London, England.
