Born in Edmonton, North London in 1920, he was the husband of Florence Mary Jeeves of Nottingham. He served in the London Irish Rifles before transferring to the Royal Corps of Signals.

Derrick C Jeeves’ grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section CS, Grave 92 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:
