Aircraftwoman 1st Class Elizabeth Joyce Coleman (2145035) served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War Two. Born in 1923, she was the daughter of Robert Coleman and Mary Madeleine (Daisy) Coleman (née Franks) of Rathfarnham, Dublin, Ireland.
Elizabeth Joyce’s family and friends knew her as Joy.
She died on 9th November 1946 aged 23 years old. While serving in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force, Joy contracted tuberculosis. She underwent treatment in Musgrave Park Hospital, Belfast, Co. Antrim but would die from the disease.
Elizabeth Joyce Coleman’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section Y, Grave 29 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
