Fusilier Francis McNamee was called up at the outbreak of the Second World War and served in the British Army during the Dunkirk evacuation.

Fusilier Francis McNamee (6980075) served in 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers during World War Two. He was the son of James McNamee and Mary Jane McNamee of 16 Sugarhouse Lane, Derry/Londonderry.

McNamee was in the reserves when called up at the outbreak of World War Two. He had fought during the Dunkirk Evacuation. He died as a result of an accident in Battle, Sussex on 6th September 1940 aged 20 years old.

Francis McNamee’s grave is in Section BC, Grave 6261 of Rye Cemetery, Sussex. His headstone bears the inscription:
