Greaser James Barbour of Ballyclare, Co. Antrim served in the Merchant Navy and was at sea for only 8 weeks when MV Leon Martin went down in Falmouth Bay.

Greaser James Barbour served in the Merchant Navy during World War Two. He was the son of Samuel Barbour and Elizabeth Barbour of 19 North End, Ballyclare, Co. Antrim.

He died on 13th November 1940 aged 22 years old. He served on MV Leon Martin when it struck a mine and went down in Falmouth Bay off the Cornwall coast. A total of 16 crew members died on the tanker. James had only been at sea for 8 weeks.

James Barbour has no known grave. His name is on Panel 64 of Tower Hill Memorial, London.
