James Buick

James Buick was born in Armoy, Co. Antrim. He died on 14th March 1941 as the Luftwaffe carried out a devastating aerial attack on Clydebank and Glasgow.

James Buick, son of William John Buick of Armoy, Co. Antrim was 28 years old when he died as a result of the Clydebank Blitz on 14th March 1941.

Civilian James Buick died on 14th March 1941 aged 28 years old. Born on 23rd January 1912, he was the son of William John Buick and Sarah Buick (née McBride) of Co. Antrim.

His death occurred at his home at 2 Shiskine Street, Maryhill, Glasgow. Glasgow suffered a pair of devastating Luftwaffe attacks during the Clydebank Blitz on the evenings of 13th and 14th March 1941. A headstone in Glasgow Western Necropolis, Glasgow bears the inscription:

In loving memory of my dear mother Margaret Buick and nine other members of family killed in Blitz 14th March 1941.

James Buick was the brother of this Margaret and an uncle of young Margaret Buick who also died as a result of the attack. His name is on the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour at St. George’s Chapel, Westminster Abbey, London.
