Corporal John Calvert Kinnin (7012389) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of Isaac Kinnin and Emily Kinnin of 9 Jameson Street, Belfast.
The Corporal died at a military hospital in Aylesbury, England as a result of an accident on 17th February 1942 aged 27 years old.
John Calvert Kinnin’s grave is in Section BB, Grave 148 of Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim. His name is on the War Memorial of St. Jude’s Church, Ormeau Road, Belfast.
A joint funeral service took place for John and his father Isaac Kinnin. The Belfast Telegraph newspaper on 24th February 1942 reports that Isaac Kinnin died at Belfast City Hospital on 21st February 1942. His cause of death was a result of the effects of the Belfast Blitz of 1941.
