John Campbell Lackey was born in the Woodvale area of North Belfast, Co. Antrim. He served with the Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War.

Rifleman John Campbell Lackey (7015445) served in the Royal Ulster Rifles during World War Two. He was the son of Arthur Lackey and Sarah Lackey, and husband of Agnes Lackey of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

The 1911 Irish Census lists the family at 8 Warkworth Street, Woodvale, Belfast, Co. Antrim. In the house is 5 year old John along with his parents, 72 year old grandmother Mary-Jane Lackey, older brother Frederick Lackey and younger sister Margaret Lackey.

He died on 3rd May 1940 aged 33 years old. At the time of his death, John and his wife Agnes and their young son Ivan Lackey lived at 182 Wilton Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.

John Campbell Lackey’s grave is in Section J1, Grave 359 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:
