John McIlroy Foster (1486961) served with the British Army during World War Two. He was a gunner in the 261st Battery, 94th Heavy Anti-Aircraft Regiment in the Royal Artillery.

Foster was born in Northern Ireland around 1908. Brought up in Co. Antrim, he was the foster-son of Mary Kenolan of Ballymena, Co. Antrim.

261st Battery saw action at El Alamein and would have been in North Africa when Foster was killed on 10th January 1944 aged 36.

His grave is at Plot 16, Row J, Grave 5 of Craigs Church of Ireland, Cullybackey, Co. Antrim.
