Sergeant John Steen Campbell from Belfast, Co. Antrim died in an air crash over Co. Donegal while on a training flight with the Royal Air Force.

Sergeant John Steen Campbell (1081343) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War Two. He was the son of Samuel Campbell and Eleanor Campbell of Belfast, Co. Antrim. He was the husband of Emma Campbell.

John died on 28th February 1943 aged 34 years old. He was the Navigator on board Vickers Wellington HX737 when it crashed in Falcarragh, Co. Donegal. The crew was from RAF No. 7 Operational Training Unit based at RAF Limavady, Co. Londonderry. John undertook training in South Africa.

John Steen Campbell’s grave is in Section R, Grave 155 of Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim.
