Aircraftman Michael Owen McFadden (303870) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War Two. Born on 19th July 1900, he enlisted with the Royal Irish Fusiliers on 21st February 1916 during World War One.
The regiment discharged McFadden at the age of 15 years and 8 months on 1st April 1916 after 42 days service. On 3rd October 1918, McFadden re-enlisted at the age of 18 years old with the Royal Air Force. Without seeing active service in World War One, he demobilised on 13th January 1920.
He was called up to Section II, Class E Reserve, Royal Air Force on 22nd July 1937 for an initial period of two years. On the outbreak of the Second World War, this extended to cover the duration of the war.
He served as ground crew at RAF Boscombe Downs and did not serve abroad. Michael Owen McFadden died on 1st November 1976 in Camberwell, London, England.
