Rifleman Patrick Joseph Treanor (7014151) served in 2nd Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles during the Second World War. He was the son of James (Jimmy) Treanor and Elizabeth Treanor (née McKevitt) of Castle Street, Newry, Co. Down.
Patrick had 2 younger brothers, James (Jimmy) Treanor born in 1923 and William (Billy) Treanor born in 1925. He also had an older sister, Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Treanor born in 1918 in Newry, Co. Down.
Patrick died on 28th May 1940 aged 20 years old during operations that would bring 2nd BattalionRoyal Ulster Rifles to Dunkirk.
Patrick Joseph Treanor’s grave is in Grave 3 of Woesten Churchyard, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. His headstone bears the inscription:
