Raoul Wilfried Piérart

Sergeant Raoul Wilfried Piérart served in 3rd (Rumbeke) Infantry Brigade of the Belgian Army in Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland during 1945.

Sergeant Raoul Wilfried Piérart served in 3rd (Rumbeke) Infantry Brigade, Belgian Army at the end of World War Two. Born on 31st August 1927, he was the son of Henri Piérart and Augustina Piérart (née Hendrick) of Bruges, Belgium.

He studied at a secondary school in his hometown of Bruges, Belgium before the Second World War. During the conflict, he was a member of the resistance movement and became a political prisoner. He was once of many volunteers to re-enlist and join 3rd (Rumbeke) Infantry Brigade.

Raoul Wilfried Piérart died on 6th September 1945 at Waringfield Military Hospital, Moira, Co. Down.
