Reginald John Primmer

Assistant Steward Reginald John Primmer of Portaferry, Co. Down died on 5th November 1940 when a German battleship sank the Belfast built SS Kenbane Head.

Assistant Steward Reginald John Primmer of Portaferry, Co. Down served in the Merchant Navy on board SS Kenbane Head when it came under attack in waters off the coast of Greenland.

Assistant Steward Reginald John Primmer served in the Merchant Navy during World War Two. He was the son of John Primmer and Violet Primmer of The Square, Portaferry, Co. Down. His place of birth according to records was Portsmouth, Hampshire.

He died on 5th November 1940 aged 19 years old. He was onboard SS Kenbane Head went it came under attack from the Kriegsmarine surface raider Admiral Scheer. A total of 24 men died when the Belfast built vessel went down off the coast of Greenland.

Reginald John Primmer has no known grave. His name is on Panel 60 of the Tower Hill Memorial, London, England.
