Cook Robert Irwin Moore of Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim died on 5th November 1940 when raider Admiral Scheer sank Merchant steamer Kenbane Head off Greenland.

Cook Robert Irwin Moore of Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim served in the Merchant Navy on board SS Kenbane Head when it came under attack in waters off the coast of Greenland.

Cook Robert Irwin Moore served in the Merchant Navy during World War Two. He was the son of Henry Moore and Martha Moore of Burleigh Hill, Carrickfergus, Co. Antrim.

He died on 5th November 1940 aged 19 years old. He was onboard SS Kenbane Head went it came under attack from the Kriegsmarine surface raider Admiral Scheer. A total of 24 men died when the Belfast built vessel went down off the coast of Greenland.

Robert Irwin Moore has no known grave. His name is on Panel 60 of the Tower Hill Memorial, London, England.
