Sergeant Thomas Glyndwr Evans of Edwardsville, Glamorgan worked as a collier before the outbreak of World War Two brought him to Belfast, Co. Antrim where he met his wife.

Sergeant Thomas Glyndwr Evans (3957965) served in 1/5th Battalion Welch Regiment. Born on 26th June 1914, he was the son of David Alfred Evans and Elizabeth Mary Evans (née Rees) of Edwardsville, Glamorgan, Wales.

Before the outbreak of World War Two, Thomas worked as a collier. While serving in 1/5th Battalion Welch Regiment, he died on 24th July 1941 aged 27 years old. He was the husband of Isabel Evans of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

Thomas Glyndwr Evans’ grave is in Section F3, Grave 30 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:

In loving memory of my dear husband. Called to higher service. Remembered always.
