Sergeant William Thomas Browne (527866) served in the Royal Air Force during World War Two. He was the son of William Thomas Browne and Annie Elizabeth Browne of 22 Walton Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
William died on 15th April 1941 aged 25 years old. He was at 22 Walton Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim with his 55 year old mother Annie Elizabeth Browne when the Luftwaffe launched The Easter Raid of the Belfast Blitz.
Luftwaffe bombs destroyed much of Walton Street between number 2 and number 30. The Belfast Street Directory of 1943 shows the area as vacant ground. Walton Street disappeared from maps of Belfast, Co. Antrim in the 1980s.
William Thomas Browne’s grave is in Glenalina Extension, Section R, Grave 119 of Belfast City Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
