In Dundrod and Loanends, bonfires lit the sky and local residents played games and danced to mark V.J. Day or Victory over Japan Day in 1945.
In the village of Glenavy, Co. Antrim, locals danced in the Main Street to celebrate the announcement of V.J. Day or Victory over Japan Day.
Celebrations of Victory Over Japan Day or V.J. Day in Portadown, Co. Armagh lasted several days and included the crowning of a Victory Queen.
