6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers

6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers was part of 158th Infantry Brigade. This 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division unit first arrived in Northern Ireland in 1939.

6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers formed part of 158th Infantry Brigade along with 4th and 7th Battalions Royal Welch Fusiliers. This unit went on to serve at Hill 112 during the Battle of Normandy. While in Northern Ireland, 6th Battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers had a base in Downpatrick Gaol, Downpatrick, Co. Down.
