159th Infantry Brigade

By May 1940, 159th Infantry Brigade was operational in Northern Ireland District. Their bases in the Northern Area centred around Derry/Londonderry.

159th Infantry Brigade arrived in Northern Ireland before May 1940. Initially, it was in the Northern Area of Northern Ireland District based in Derry/Londonderry. On 20th June 1940, the Brigade relocated to the new Southern Area along with the rest of 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division.

3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment

3rd Battalion Monmouthshire Regiment served in Northern Ireland on Home Defence duties early in World War Two as part of 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division.
