Memel Street Public Elementary School once stood on the now vanished Memel Street in an area of East Belfast heavily affected by the Belfast Blitz of 1941.

On 4th July 1940, the Belfast Newsletter listed Memel Street Public Elementary School as a place from where unregistered children would be evacuated on Monday 8th July 1940.
This was part of an attempt to evacuate young people from Belfast a year before the Blitz.
