On 4th July 1940, the Belfast Newsletter listed Strand Public Elementary School as a place from where unregistered children would be evacuated on Monday 8th July 1940.

This was part of an attempt to evacuate young people from Belfast a year before the Blitz.

Luftwaffe bombing in 1941 all but destroyed the old school building. In 2008, the school merged with the nearby Strand Infants’ School to form Victoria Park Primary School.
