On Monday 5th March 1945, the Town Hall, Ballymena, Co. Antrim was the scene of a dance organised by the Ballymena Hospitality Committee for members of the Allied Forces. These organisations welcomed British, American, Belgian, and other troops into Northern Irish communities.

Many members of 2nd (Yser) Infantry Brigade of the Belgian Army attended the dance, welcomed by Mr. JN Lamont. Music on the night came from a military dance band called The Specialists and local girls provided dance partners for the troops.
