Mount Caulfield House lies to the south-east of the village of Bessbrook, Co. Armagh. Built in the 18th century, William Hudson resided in the premises. He was a wealthy landowner in the South Armagh area.

John Grubb Richardson had been responsible for building the nearby village of Bessbrook. He acquired Mount Caulfield in 1867, developing a more Victorian look including an ornamental millrace.

In 1943-1944, it housed officers of the US Army as they prepared troops billeted nearby for the upcoming invasion of Normandy. At the time, the estate belonged to Sarah Alexander Richardson, a descendent of the famous Richardson linen family.
