Crossing a Lough in Co. Down
On 16th February 1943, Lieutenant J.R. Bainbridge photographed soldiers of the British Army's 72nd Independent Infantry Brigade carrying out an exercise using an improvised raft to transport troops and vehicles across what he referred to as "Lough Cartan" near Banbridge, Co. Down. In 2021, local residents confirmed this to be Corbet Lough.
