Belfast Blitz Burials
The funeral services of three members of the Grattan family took place at St. Comgall’s Catholic Church on 18th May 1941.
Matilda Lillian Grattan, Shelagh Grattan, and Angeline Grattan died as a result of enemy action. A wayward Luftwaffe bomb struck the family home at 40 Ashley Gardens, Bangor on 16th April 1941 during the Belfast Blitz.
Matilda and her two daughters’ graves are in an unmarked plot in Bangor New Cemetery, Bangor, Co. Down.
