Sergeant Alexander Campbell Davidson (966403) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during World War Two. He was the son of John Davidson and Mary Davidson (née Campbell) of 9 Nore Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.
Alexander died on 4th March 1941 while serving with RAF 224 Squadron. He was a Wireless Operator/Air Gunner on board Lockheed Hudson N7235 QX-A when it crashed near Loch Bradan, Ayrshire. The plane took off at 1200hrs from RAF Leuchars, Fife but failed to reach its destination of RAF Aldergrove, Co. Antrim.
Initial searches found no trace of the wreckage but recovery teams found the plane later in the Ayrshire hills. Some debris from the crash remains visible at the site and shows no sign of burning.

Alexander Campbell Davidson’s grave is in Section ZZ, Grave 90 of Carnmoney Cemetery, Newtownabbey, Co. Antrim. A funeral service took place in Shankill Road Mission, Belfast, Co. Antrim where Reverend WP Hall and Reverend RK Greer conducted the ceremony.
