Australian Airman Flight Sergeant Alfred Frank Sherry served in the Royal Australian Air Force and trained with RAF No. 131 Operational Training Unit in Northern Ireland.

Flight Sergeant Alfred Frank Sherry (418982) served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War Two. Born on 28th February 1923, he was the son of the late Frederick William Sherry and Alice Ruby Sherry (née Lamble) of Richmond, Victoria, Australia.

Sherry enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 20th June 1942. He died on 9th January 1944 aged 20 years old when Consolidated Catalina FP193 of RAF No. 131 Operational Training Unit crashed half a mile from Boa Island, Co. Fermanagh. The plane was on a non-operational low-level bombing exercise. Sherry was the navigator on board.

Alfred Frank Sherry’s grave is in Plot 2, Grave 53 of Irvinestown Church of Ireland Churchyard, Irvinestown, Co. Fermanagh. His headstone bears the inscription:
