Flying Officer Anthony Allen Williams (130964) served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War. He was the son of Winifred Williams of Meadowhead, Sheffield.
He died on 11th August 1943 aged 22 years old as a result of injuries sustained on Consolidated Catalina PBY-5B FP101 of R.A.F. No. 131 Operational Training Unit. The plane came down at Duross Point while approaching Castle Archdale, Co. Fermanagh on the return leg of a night-time training flight. The cause was likely poor visibility due to the weather.
Flying Officer Roy William Ellis also died as a result of this incident while R.A.F. No. 131 Operational Training Unit was at R.A.F. Killadeas, Co. Fermanagh. The remaining 6 members of the crew survived.
Antony Allen Williams’ grave is in Section ARC, Grave 504 of Abbey Lane Cemetery, Sheffield, Yorkshire. His headstone bears the inscription:
