Born in Bangor, Co. Down, Cyril Charles Cameron enlisted in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and flew with R.A.F. 166 Squadron during the Second World War.

Aircraftman 2nd Class Cyril Charles Cameron (3225065) served with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. Born in Bangor, Co. Down, he was the son of Hugh Cameron and Alice Eleanor Cameron.

He flew with R.A.F. 166 Squadron and was training as a Pilot. At the time, R.A.F. 166 Squadron Operated from R.A.F. Kirmington, Lincolnshire, England flying Avro Lancaster Bombers.

Cameron died on 22nd October 1944 aged 19 years old. His death was the result of a bomb loading accident. Notification of the trainee Pilot’s death was registered in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England.

Cyril Charles Cameron’s grave is in Section 4V, Grave 86 of Bangor Cemetery, Bangor, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
