Sergeant Herbert Reginald Megarry (745111) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the son of Herbert Megarry and Sarah Megarry of Bangor, Co. Down.
Megarry died on 18th May 1940 aged 20 years old. At the time he was with RAF No. 6 Service Flying Training School. He was the pilot of Harvard I P5842 when it spun out of control and crashed at Oddington near Islip, Oxfordshire.
Hebert Reginald Megarry’s grave is in Section 4V, Grave 175 of Bangor Cemetery, Bangor, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
What peaceful hours we once enjoyed. How sweet their memory still.
