Aircraftman 2nd Class James Simpson (1905744) served with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the son of James Simpson and Elizabeth Simpson of Belfast.

He died on 1st October 1944 aged 20-years-old. His death was registered at R.A.F. Hospital Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. James Simpson’s grave is in Section B5, Grave 316 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
