Laura Jane Donnell of Derry/Londonderry lived in London, England in April 1941 when the Luftwaffe carried out a devastating raid on the city.

Civilian Laura Jane Donnell died on 17th April 1941 aged 68 years old. She was the daughter of the late William Donnell of Victoria Park, Derry/Londonderry.

Her place of death was 20 Pembridge Mansions, Moscow Road, London. At the time, she lived a few doors away at 14 Pembridge Mansions. The night of 16th-17th April 1941 saw one of the heaviest Luftwaffe attacks on London with around 600 planes taking part in the raid. Around 1,000 people died as 890 tons of high explosive bombs and 151,000 incendiaries fell on the city.

Her name is on the Civilian War Dead Roll of Honour at St. George’s Chapel, Westminster Abbey, London.
