Flight Sergeant Leslie Woods of Mount Tamborine, Queensland, Australia died while serving with RAF No. 7 Operational Training Unit in Northern Ireland in 1943.

Flight Sergeant Leslie Woods (414859) served in the Royal Australian Air Force during World War Two. He was the son of Henry Woods and Mary Woods, and husband of Elsie May Woods of Mount Tamborine, Queensland, Australia.

Woods died on 28th November 1943 aged 29 years old. He was a Wireless Operator / Air Gunner on Vickers Wellington DV664 with RAF No. 7 Operational Training Unit. The bomber came down on a practise flight at Portballintrae, Co. Antrim. Woods’ body later washed ashore as did that of another airman from the crew.

Leslie Woods’ grave is in Grave 26 of Christ Church Church of Ireland Churchyard, Drumachose, Co. Londonderry. His headstone bears the inscription:

His duty bravely done.
