Owen McKenna

Greaser Owen McKenna was a member of the Naval Auxiliary Personnel in the Second World War. He died on 30th March 1944 while serving on the HMS Ranpura.

Greaser Owen McKenna from Belfast, Co. Antrim served on the HMS Ranpura with the Merchant Navy at the time of his death on 30th March 1944.

Greaser Owen McKenna served in the Naval Auxiliary Personnel during World War Two. He was the son of John McKenna and Rose-Ann McKenna of Belfast, Co. Antrim. His wife was Rose Anna McKenna of Belfast, Co. Antrim.

The 1911 Irish Census shows McKenna aged 4 years old living with his parents. Also in the house are older sister Bridget McKenna and a younger sister Mary Ann McKenna. The family lives at 82.1 Little York Street, Belfast, Co. Antrim.

Owen McKenna died on 30th March 1944 aged 36 years old. At the time, he served on HMS Ranpura. His grave is in Section B, Row HA, Grave 90 of Milltown Cemetery, Belfast, Co. Antrim. His headstone bears the inscription:

Too good in life to be forgotten in death. RIP.
