Sergeant Peter Tristan Smith (1290933) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the son of Leonard Francis Smith and Lilian Elizabeth Smith of Bangor, Co. Down.
Smith died on 21st April 1943 aged 21 years old. He was the Navigator on Avro Lancaster W4795 when it took off from RAF Syerston, Nottinghamshire on a night time operation at 2127hrs on 20th April 1943. The Mark I RAF 61 Squadron bomber came down near “Renik Airfield” at around 0230hrs on 21st April 1943.
