Leading Aircraftwoman Rosemary Elizabeth Cox enlisted in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force while she lived in Belfast, Co. Antrim where her father was a munitions worker.

Leading Aircraftwoman Rosemary Elizabeth Cox (2145916) served in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force during World War Two. Born on 25th December 1924, she was the daughter of Robert Duncan Cox and Adelaide Dorothy Copeland Cox (née Bradshaw) of Dublin, Ireland.

She received her education in Dublin, Ireland before moving to Fortwilliam Drive, Belfast, Co. Antrim in the early 1940s. Her father worked in a munitions factory in the city and had served in The Great War. Rosemary enlisted in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force in Belfast, Co. Antrim. She was a keen sportswoman.

Rosemary Elizabeth Cox died at Purdysburn Fever Hospital, Co. Down on 3rd April 1945 aged 20 years old. Her grave is in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dundalk, Louth, Ireland. Her headstone bears the inscription:

And they shall be Mine, sayeth The Lord of Hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels.
