Pilot Officer Stanley John Thompson of Bessbrook, Co. Armagh was only 19 years old when he died serving in the Royal Air Force in the United Kingdom in October 1940.

Pilot Officer Stanley John Thompson (86402) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the only son of John Davis Thompson and Sarah Scott Thompson of Lakeview, Bessbrook, Co. Armagh.

Stanley John Thompson died on 13th October 1940 aged 19 years old. His grave is in Section P, Grave 46 of St. Matthew’s Churchyard, Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire, England. His headstone bears the inscription:
