Aircraftman 1st Class Terence Vincent McCormack (1255025) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. Known as Terry, he was the son of George Malachy McCormack and Mary Elizabeth McCormack (née Jones) of 271 Bishop Street, Derry/Londonderry.

He died on 22nd June 1942. Casualty lists state Terry died on active service rather than killed in action. Family members suggest he may have died on heat exhaustion or an illness such as malaria. A listing on Ancestry references temperatures in Sudan of “above 100 degrees” and notes that service personnel took toses of salt to prevent heatstroke.

Queen of the most holy rosary, pray for him. RIP.
