Flight Sergeant Thomas Leckey (1023458) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. He was the son of David Leckey and Ann Jane Leckey of Belfast.
He died on 26th October 1943 aged 23 years old while serving in R.A.F. 160 Squadron. Consolidated Liberator FL926 took off from Sigiriya Airfield, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) at 0544hrs. The crew last made contact while over the Nicobar Islands. The presumption was that Mitsubishi Zeroes of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s No. 331 Kokutai engaged with the R.A.F. Bomber.
