Leading Aircraftman William Jeffrey (1485789) served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. Born on 16th June 1923, he was the son of Matthew Jeffrey and Elizabeth Victoria Jeffrey (née Boal) of Belfast.
William married Vera Elsie Davey on 31st March 1945 at Ilketshall, St. Andrew’s, Suffolk, England. The couple lived at 10 Ravenscroft Street, Belfast. William died at the U.V.F. Hospital, Craigavon House, Belfast on 22nd August 1946 aged 23 years old. His cause of death was carcinoma of the liver.
William Jeffrey’s grave is in Section E2, Grave 107 of Dundonald Cemetery, Dundonald, Co. Down. His headstone bears the inscription:
